Account of an imaginary journey to Heliopolis in which architectural monuments and the festival of lights celebrated there are discussed in detail. The narrative is dedicated to Joseph Antonio de Chaves Ossorio, Commandant of Majorca and Governor of Palma and is written in a whimsical style, containing factual observations combined with Homeric evocations of mythological figures. The last section of the ms. explains the history and still extant monuments with Latin inscriptions of the former Roman colony of Pollentia, situated in the Balearic Islands. There is also a proposal to create a contemporary version of an Egyptian obelisk, all four faces of which are shown in a fold-out illustration. The monument was to be erected in honor of the governor and King Philip V.

In 1724, Philip abdicated the throne of Spain to his eldest son, Louis, but resumed it later that year after Louis died of smallpox.
